The Australian farmer is in crisis and is currently faced with 3 main challenges:
1. Salinity
2. Drought
3. Diminishing returns
Sustainability Ventures (“SV”) together with leading industry and government partners have developed the Sustainable Water System (“SWS”) - an innovative solution to address all three challenges to enable farmers to achieve sustainable revenues for the future!
The SWS is a combination of water treatment and reuse technologies and proven processes combined with new means of production and revenue streams for the Australian farmer.
The SWS integrates seamlessly with the existing dairy farm (and other farms) and utilises its existing water resources, including saline and waste water to feed a new revenue source of intensive growth activities (thus using less land) and non-consumptive water usage (such as fish farming) or low and efficient water consumptive (such as greenhouse vegetables).
The SWS solution is well placed to address legislative requirements requiring farmers to sell back their water rights and decrease the size of their irrigated farmland. Utilising the SWS will enable farmers to decrease their water consumption to production ratios, decrease their land size to production ratios whilst gaining profitability via diversification.
Financial support
Farmers who adopt the SWS may be eligible for financial assistance from SV partners. Thus reduced capital cost will be required. The farmer will pay for the SWS from the new crops generated through the SWS via a per unit crate style levy.
Training and Expert support
Farmers will obtain initial and ongoing technical support and expert advice guiding them through the optimisation of their new selected crops. Industry and Government experts will escort the farmer through the entire growing cycle all the way to market.
Logistics and procurement support
Farmers will enjoy the benefit of the network of SV in the form of joint procurement of feedstock and other goods - thus gaining a competitive advantage through lower cost of production.
Distribution and marketing
SV network will assist selected crops with their route to market - thus securing markets for crops and competitive pricing.
